Theming your Google homepage

When I fired up my browser this morning I noticed a little link on the right side of my Google personalized homepage called Select Theme. Seems as if the Google team has added theming to their home page now.
google new theme feature

I picked the first one on the list (the Beach theme) and was surprised that it is set up to adjust to the time of day. First thing in the morning is shows a sunrise, noon the sun is ‘up’ more in the sky and as you see in the picture below the sun is almost above the screen. Pretty slick.

They have included 7 themes in all:

  • Classic (the default)
  • Beach
  • Bus Stop
  • City Scape
  • Sweet Dreams
  • Tea House
  • Seasonal Scape

Available themes
It looks as if the Sweet Dreams and Seasonal Scape also change with the day/season but I haven’t tested them enough to know yet.

I’m using bus stop, and it changes with your local weather which is pretty cool.

That is cool! It is always sunny here so mine wouldn’t change all that much :)
