How would you like to promote your blog?

March 2nd, 2007 by Robert

As bloggers we would all like to be able to get readers. There are a variety of factors that lead to readership, from just plain good content to actually getting noticed. While there are many blogs dedicated to helping you write great content, lets face it, sometimes it can be hard getting people initially to your blog in the first place.

The Tools

There are also several tools out there to help bloggers get noticed. Whether it is TheGoodBlogs service and widget (seen next to this post for non-rss readers) to services like Technorati, StumbleUpon, Reddit, and a variety of others. Then there are the search engine techniques that many people use. All of these are great but most tend to require a wait and pray approach to actually working. A few like TheGoodBlogs actively promote your blog through their widget and communities, but what if you could actually do advertising yourself?

Would You Advertise?

Think about it, if you could advertise to other bloggers and only target those bloggers, would you? Take Google’s AdSense for example. Some have actually used it to promote their blogs, but unless you want to buy advertising on someone else’s blog AdSense probably won’t help you too much.

What other methods would like to see to promote your blog?

I know how I tell my readers to promote their site comment comment comment, and make sure you comment back to those who comment on your site no matter how many do the best you can. It helps.

Commenting is always a good idea, whether it is on other blogs, forums, etc.

I was looking however more for ‘advertising’ type of promotion.

      Thanks for the comment though!

I’m actually looking into creating a section on my site that highlights entrepreneurs as an “ad”. It would have a link to their website/blog, as well as some personal thoughts on the success and obstacles of their business. I like the idea of advertising businesses that have more of a personal feel than the usual AdSense ads.

Very interesting Landon. I’m looking to do something related with Luxor as well :)
